Senior Spotlight: Emily Topkis

1. What is your plan in the fall? Attending university? Traveling? Performing? Give me all the deets!!

I will be attending UCLA in the fall with a major in global studies and a minor in film. I hope to get involved with their tap dancing groups and other performing arts opportunities!

2. What were your favorite parts/ performance features at Shuffles?

My favorite part at shuffles would have to be Eloise! I loved doing it with my friends and it was my first time performing a crossover by myself! I also loved the about town show because it was super cool getting to perform 42nd street at Lincoln center. Lastly, my favorite dance to perform is Opus. I performed it once before, but I am excited to perform it in this year’s upcoming show!

3. What is your favorite memory from your time at Shuffles?

My favorite memory is when my sisters and I did our trio number in Le Grand Cirque. I loved dancing with them and getting to perform together.

4. How has Shuffles impacted you today?

Shuffles has taught me performance and public speaking skills that I will use for the rest of my life. I now know how to present myself and go in front of crowds.

I’m excited to finish out my 15th year having been at Shuffles since I was 2!
