SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Kayla Kramer

We are so proud of our graduating seniors and each year we feature them with a Senior Spotlight!

We asked each of our seniors a few questions about their time at Shuffles, read Kayla Kramer’s spotlight below:

  • What is your plan in the fall? Attending university? Traveling? Performing?

Next fall, I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania with an intended major in communications.

  • What were your favorite parts/ performance features at Shuffles?

My two favorite numbers that I have been apart of throughout my time at Shuffles are “Bippity Boppity Boo” from Taperella and “Opus” from No Place Like Home. I loved Bippity Boppity Boo because it was so exciting to do a duet on stage at such a young age and incorporate some really cool tricks. Opus was also very special because it is an extremely technical dance and it was so motivating to be performing in the finale surrounded by all the most advanced Shuffles students.

  • What is your favorite memory from your time at Shuffles?

My favorite memories from my time at Shuffles have always been the first day of dress rehearsal for the May show. It is so exciting to finally see all the costumes and watch the show come to life as we perform on the Kaye Playhouse stage for the first time. I also have always enjoyed the rush of the quick changes backstage, even when they can be a little stressful at times!

  • How has Shuffles impacted you today?

I can confidently say that Shuffles has played a major role in my transformation from a shy and reserved little girl to the confident and spunky 18 year old I am today. I have learned to use my voice (or my feet!) to speak out and become a true leader, whether that may be in or out of the dance studio. I have also learned the value in working hard and never giving up when it comes to reaching your goals. I will miss the community of teachers and friends at Shuffles tremendously!
