SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Maddie Welton

We are so proud of our graduating seniors and each year we feature them with a Senior Spotlight!

We asked each of our seniors a few questions about their time at Shuffles, read Maddie Welton’s spotlight below:

  • What is your plan in the fall? Attending university? Traveling? Performing?

I will be attending Emory University in the fall and I plan on majoring in anthropology and human biology on the pre-med track!

  • What were your favorite parts/ performance features at Shuffles?

My favorite number was Company B’s “One” in About Town. I also loved the mouse number in Taperella.

  • What is your favorite memory from your time at Shuffles?

In Taperella, I performed my first duet “Bibbity Bobbity Boo” where we played the part of the pumpkins before they’re turned into a carriage. The stage manager would always talk into his headset and say, “Pumpkins are set” before the backdrop rose and our dance started.

  • How has Shuffles impacted you today?

Shuffles has not only taught me dance techniques but it has also helped me learn to express my creative side. I always enjoyed coming to dance class after spending all day in the classroom.

  • Anything else you’d like to share?

I’m going to miss my shuffles family next year but I’m so grateful that I was able to be a part of shuffles for the last twelve years.
