Olivia Burke will be graduating from Marymount School, and will be attending University of Michigan’s Ross School of business in the fall! She plans to focus on finance, as well as minor in vocal music or musical theatre. She has always wanted to work on Wall Street, and hopes to one day invest in Broadway musicals! This summer she plans to relax, spend time with friends and family, work at Hayground Camp in July, and hopefully go on a road trip with her best friend!
Olivia has been at SHUFFLES for 7 years! She says she will miss the friends she made at SHUFFLES the most, saying that “the highlight of [her] week is always coming to Studio on Wednesday night and rehearsing with [her] friends.” She fondly remembers her first SHUFFLES performance, 2015’s TAPerella, with the rush of performing in such a large production, and looking up to the older dancers. These older dancers helped her learn one of the best lessons at SHUFFLES - mentorship. Olivia says, “Throughout my 7 years at SHUFFLES, the teachers and older dancers taught me the values of mentorship that I try to emulate every day.”
When thinking about her favorite SHUFFLES memory, she immediately thought of performing in 2021’s May Show About Town at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park. She felt it was a truly once-in-a–lifetime experience, and was so grateful to be back on stage for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
While not rehearsing with friends at SHUFFLES, Olivia is rehearsing with friends at Marymount School for her school musical! This year she’ll be playing Cinderella in Into The Woods! Finally, her biggest inspiration is her grandma. Speaking about her inspiration, Olivia had this to say: “She has gone through so much in her life, but she always manages to carry herself with the utmost grace and poise. She is truly the kindest woman I've ever met! She has been an inspiration for my faith and even was my Confirmation sponsor!”
